The Pharmacists Association of Saskatchewan evolved out of the need for united pharmacist representation for economic negotiations and development within Saskatchewan.
Originally, the provincial regulatory organization, the Saskatchewan Pharmacists Association - SPhA (now renamed the Saskatchewan College of Pharmacists - SCP) also negotiated for the economic interests of pharmacists and pharmacies. However, in the mid-nineties the need was identified to separate the two roles. At that point, an economic task force was developed under the SPhA umbrella.
In 1998 the Representative Board of Saskatchewan Pharmacists (RBSP), was formed as an independent organization, but was not yet autonomous from the SPhA. The RBSP was housed within the SPhA office and the two organizations shared human resources and infrastructure.
In 2001, the RBSP finally became an independent, autonomous organization and physically relocated within Regina.
In 2007, the name of the organization changed to the Pharmacists' Association of Saskatchewan (PAS). PAS continues to evolve while developing enhanced member services and collaboration with key pharmacy stakeholders for the best interests of all Saskatchewan pharmacists.
