This online training module is for pharmacists wishing to become certified to provide Level 1 and 2 prescriptive authority services. It also allows pharmacists who have previously taken live training to review training material.
The Level I
Prescriptive Authority Services Pharmacist Guide is now
available for download to PAS members. The Minister of Health, Don
McMorris announced the implementation of Prescriptive Authority
effective March 4, 2011.
The Guide has been developed by the Pharmacists'
Association of Saskatchewan, in consultation with our Professional
Practice Committee, SCP and the Ministry of Health. It is intended
to assist pharmacists with the implementation of Level I
Prescriptive Authority services by providing details related to
policy, procedures and billing. The Special
Edition: Enhanced Prescriptive Authority #48 PAS It On sent
recently to members, is also available as a brief overview of the
Guide.
The Guide is an interpretation to legislation and policy on Level I Prescriptive Authority services found in Section 23 of the Regulatory Bylaws of the Saskatchewan College of Pharmacists and Sections 9.1 and 9.2 of the Drug Schedules Regulations, 1997 of The Pharmacy Act, 1997. Billing policy and procedures are anticipated to change over time and pharmacists are encouraged to stay up to date on developments with Prescriptive Authority Services. PAS members will be notified of changes as soon as information becomes available.
The Lung Associations of Manitoba and Saskatchewan have created a professional development program to teach health care professionals to better educate people with asthma and COPD. RESPTrec© (the Respiratory Training and Educator Course) will give health care professionals the latest information and training in asthma and COPD care. The Course content is based on the most recent Canadian evidence-based Guidelines. At the same time, the programs give Health Professionals the tools with which they can better teach their patients how to improve their asthma and COPD self-management skills.
