Pfizer Consumer Healthcare Bowl of Hygeia

The Pfizer Consumer Healthcare Bowl of Hygeia award is presented annually to a pharmacist in each province in Canada and each of the United States to recognize outstanding service to the community.



The nominee must have made an outstanding contribution to the community

The nominee must be a member of the Pharmacy Association of Saskatchewan (PAS) and a member in good standing of the Saskatchewan College of Pharmacy Professionals

2019 Pfizer Consumer Healthcare Bowl of Hygeia Recipient - George Dragan, Indian Head

George Dragan grew up in Indian Head and followed in his father's footsteps, becoming a pharmacist and taking over the family business. He makes community service a key part of being a pharmacist owner and has been involved in community service throughout his entire professional life. George has either helped organize or quietly sponsored a large number of organizations in and around Indian Head throughout the 27 years he has been the owner of Dragan's Drugs/Pharmasave #445. The list of annual benefactors includes Pine Lodge - Alcohol/Drug Treatment Centre, Indian Head Minor Hockey, Indian Head Dance Club, Mainline Music Festival, Grand Theatre, High School Football Score clock, Skate Park, Elks Park, Indian Head High School Basketball, Bell Barn, Indian Head Hospital, Indian Head High School Graduation, Girl Guides, Cadets, Heritage Club, Curling Club, Golf Course, Secret Santa at Golden Prairie Nursing Home and Hayes Haven Special Care Home, Library, Church Christmas Hamper, Trans Canada Trail, Local Daycare, RCMP, Lions, CTK Reserve, Indian Head wildlife.

The list does not include the many impromptu donations made to the many smaller groups or causes. He has been "on call" for his patients throughout his career. George has made the practice of meeting patients at the store after hours to fill prescriptions or supply needed medical supplies routine. On many other occasions he has delivered the medication or supplies directly to the home of the housebound patient.

George has either been President or Vice President of: Chamber of Commerce, Indian Head Shrine Club, Indian Head Elks, Indian Head Masonic Lodge, Indian Head Curling Club, and Indian Head Ducks Unlimited. George shows his willingness to roll up his sleeves and be the first one to volunteer on behalf of these organizations.
